ABSTRACT

Since its introduction in 1982, rough set theory (RST) [328] has become a robust knowledge discovery framework that does well in handling incompleteness, vagueness, and uncertainty in data [331, 330, 103, 341]. RST research has revealed numerous connections and led to hybrid concepts in important fields, such as probability theory [469], Dempster-Shafer theory of evidence [370], neural networks [266], fuzzy sets, granular computing [263], or data mining [169].
