ABSTRACT

Wireless sensor networks that are capable of observing the environment, processing data, and making decisions based on these observations, have recently attracted considerable attention [2,16,36,39]. Ÿese networks are important for a number of applications such as coordinated target detection and localization, surveillance, and environmental monitoring. Breakthroughs in miniaturization, hardware design techniques, and system so¯ware have led to cheaper sensors and fueled recent advances in wireless sensor networks [1,2,16].
