ABSTRACT

The uncertainties that epitomize our time are to a great degree based on the fact that we are rapidly leaving the fossil-based era. This is occurring without a roadmap to guide us, as the ideas of modernism once did. The city as an oil-based phenomenon can be read as a particularly insecure mine‚eld, yet implored to provide a place for an increasing human population. How can we navigate in this archipelago of unexpected events and new situations, while simultaneously securing the fuel necessary for the journey and a seat for all that are on the same trip?
