ABSTRACT

Electrochemistry is a very important discipline. In electrochemistry, the chemical state of a compound can be modulated by applying voltage and by injecting or withdrawing electrons from the molecule. Alternatively, by changing the chemical state of a particular compound, we can generate a ¥ow of electrons/holes through a circuit (Bard and Faulkner 2001). The implications are clear: Electrochemistry is behind most energy storage and conversion processes, such as those taking place in batteries or fuel cells. It is also behind important applications in sensing and biosensing, such as the detection of glucose levels for people suffering from diabetes.
