From Figure 14.1, it is clear that • Prior to the application going live (in a production environ-
ment), anonymized data don’t make sense. • Once the application goes live in production (i.e., in the
maintenance phase), any application containing sensitive data
will need anonymization in all nonproduction environments to ensure protection of data privacy.
