ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION There are different materials with which to manufacture contact lenses. Depending on the physical proprieties of the material (and the manufacturing process), different types of contact lenses are available to correct refractive errors (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia) and to manage other ocular conditions (specially irregular astigmatism and others). In these special cases, contact lenses are often the only option to improve the patient’s vision.
