THERAPEUTIC CONTACT LENS DEFINITION A therapeutic contact lens is used in an attempt to restore visual function following pathology or trauma to the eye, or it may serve as a bandage lens, relieving pain and allowing the eye to heal. A therapeutic contact lens may also incorporate a refractive design in order to correct ametropia, but this is not always necessary.
