Not only have the numbers of individuals receiving home ventilation increased over the last decade, but there has also been a widening of indications for these techniques. In some areas this expansion is evidence-based, in others non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is being applied where evidence to support its use is limited. The suitability of patients for home ventilation is explored in this chapter.
