ABSTRACT

Managing pain is an important element of Emergency Department (ED) practice and one which the CEM is striving to improve through clear guidance and regular audit. Pain is probably a feature of the majority of ED presentations and so questions on managing pain can crop up in SAQs on virtually any topic – and they do! Thus, we would recommend committing to memory the CEM guidelines on the management of pain in both adults and children, and we have referenced these at the end of this chapter.1,5 In addition know about:
