Clinical studies in children with ALL on long-term methotrexate demonstrated evidence of osteoporosis and osteoporotic fractures.42-45 Furthermore, Nesbit and colleagues demonstrated abnormalities in calcium metabolism with increased excretion of urinary calcium in a similar cohort of children with bone abnormalities.46
