ABSTRACT

For each of the following scenarios, select the most likely underlying cause of jaundice. Each option may be used once, more than once or not at all.

1. A 58-year-old man presents to his GP with a 4-week history of worsening jaundice that is associated with dark urine and pale stools. He denies any pain, but has lost a stone in weight over the last month. There is no history of foreign travel, intravenous drug use or sexual activity with prostitutes.
