ABSTRACT

This section on subject recruitment and sample management for respiratory genetic studies will provide a brief overview of some of the important practical issues involved in performing a human genetic research study. For the nonresearcher, this review will provide insight into the mechanics of performing such studies, while for researchers interested in this area, we will try to provide some useful guidelines. When performing human genetic studies, it is essential to anticipate what samples and information need to be tracked for the current project and for potential future projects within a study cohort.
