ABSTRACT
The advent of recombinant DNA technology allows a variety of in vitro techniques to be used to alter a specific sequence of DNA in order to study the effect of that alteration on a gene product or a regulatory element. In this chapter, we will focus our discussion on the utilization of those techniques and other biochemical and biophysical techniques to study the effect of a mutation on protein structure and function.
