ABSTRACT
For the purposes of this clinical discussion, brainstem tumors will be divided into diffuse brainstem gliomas, cervicomedullary junction gliomas, exophytic dorsal gliomas, focal mid-brain tumors, and tectal plate tumors, while the pathologic discussion will reorganize the data with respect to the anatomic distributions of Grade I pilocytic astrocytomas and the Grade II-IV diffuse astrocytomas.
