ABSTRACT

Complications as a result of sinus surgery can occur in cases carried out by even the most experienced surgeons. A rate of serious complications in the order of 0.5 per cent is often quoted for sinus surgery.1 The rate for an individual surgeon, in practised hands, may be a good deal lower but by its very nature is never zero. For this reason, a balanced analysis of potential complications is part of the informed consent process for any surgery.
