ABSTRACT

The makeup of a regional transport team has many influences, including local geographic factors such as the distances needed to travel, the size of the area covered and the presence of any difficult-to-access sites, such as islands or remote mountainous sites. Sufficient consideration needs to be given to all these factors when planning individual criticalcare transport. The need to use air transport can have profound effects on the constitution of a team, the logistics of the process and the costs involved.
