ABSTRACT
A variety of other conditions also produce apparent rectal bleeding in children. They are best considered in relation to the way in which they present, as this will give some clues as to their likely cause (Table 28.1). The two important surgical causes of rectal bleeding in the neonate are necrotizing enterocolitis and malrotation in which volvulus of the midgut has supervened.
