ABSTRACT

Imaging has a pivotal role in the diagnosis and management of the majority of conditions affecting the paediatric urinary tract. Of the various imaging techniques available, ultrasound is ideally suited to delineating the child’s kidneys and bladder, and this examination has become the initial imaging method of choice. Recent technical advances, such as improved power Doppler imaging, harmonic and compound imaging, and the introduction of ultrasound contrast agents, have expanded the potential of ultrasound in this area.
