ABSTRACT

At six weeks, the genital tubercle appears between the cloaca and the umbilical cord (Figure 60.1). The descending urorectal septum then divides the cloaca into the urogenital sinus and the anal canal. The urogenital sinus develops into a short tubular pelvic part (future site of prostate) and a flattened phallic part (distal portion of urethra).
