ABSTRACT
DIABETIC KETOACIDOSIS You are a medical pre-registration house officer (PRHO) in A&E. Sarah, a 24-year-old office worker, is attending A&E with a day-long history of non-specific abdominal pain and vomiting. She is hyperventilating and has dry mucous membranes. Her observations are as follows: temperature 37 °C, pulse rate 80 beats per minute (bpm), blood pressure 120/75 mmHg, respiratory rate 25 breaths/minute, oxygen saturation 99 per cent in room air. Please take a history and form an appropriate management plan.
