ABSTRACT

COMMUNICATING WITH A COLLEAGUE You are a surgical pre-registration house officer (PRHO). A patient reports to you that a nurse has been ignoring her requests for an enema but has managed to attend to all the other patients in the bay. She feels that she is being discriminated against in some way and wishes to make a formal complaint. You have always found the nurse in question to be highly responsive and competent. You decide to discuss the incident with her, both in order to respond to the patient and in the hope of being able to resolve the issues informally.
