ABSTRACT

Acromioclavicular (AC) joint injuries are common because of the vulnerable position of the joint on the lateral aspect of the shoulder, and because the joint absorbs direct forces with any blow to the shoulder or falls on the outstretched hand or elbow.1 AC joint injuries are very common in young males involved in contact sports and, depending on the injury velocity, they can be a simple ligamentous strain or complex dislocation. Management depends on the severity of injury, ranging from supportive care to surgical stabilization.
