ABSTRACT

Congenital dislocation of the knee (CDK) is a dramatic birth abnormality. The newborn’s knee is in recurvatum and the foot may present at the infant’s mouth or shoulders. Hyperflexion of the hips should raise the suspicion of associated hip dislocation. Referral to the orthopaedic surgeon is therefore made shortly after birth. It is the most severe form of knee hyperextension in the newborn.
