ABSTRACT
Children accused of, or sentenced for, criminal offences may require and benefit from psychiatric treatment. This chapter deals with the law relating to the provision of this treatment. Children who are imprisoned are entitled to have their choices in relation to medical, including psychiatric, treatment respected in exactly the same way as young people living in the community or receiving in-patient medical or psychiatric treatment.
