ABSTRACT
Initiation of angiogenesis is a critical step for tumour growth and metastasis.1 Whereas physiological angiogenesis is complex and tightly controlled, aberrant angiogenesis is a hallmark of cancer. Advances in our understanding of the molecular basis of angiogenesis have established tumour angiogenesis as an important prognostic, predictive and therapeutic target in cancer.
