ABSTRACT
All those caring for patients with cancer strive to attain the greatest degree of tumour control with the lowest level of treatment-related morbidity. Essential to the good and safe practice of radiation therapy is knowledge of the biology of tumours and of the normal tissues together with an understanding of the way in which they are affected by ionizing radiation.
