ABSTRACT

Despite its known sedative and behavioral side-effects, phenobarbital is still commonly used in the pediatric age range, because of its convenient pharmacokinetics and relative safety. Indications for phenobarbital include generalized tonic-clonic seizures, simple and complex partial seizures, generalized convulsive and simple or complex partial status epilepticus, juvenile myoclonic epilepsy, neonatal seizures and the prophylaxis of febrile seizures.
