ABSTRACT

At the micro level, the context of the seizure behavior chain needs to be understood. The behavioral diagnosis serves to map out the interaction of the seizure behavior in relation to its context, involving both psychological and physical reactions as well as the environment. Behavior analysis operationalizes seizures in terms of: discriminative stimuli or antecedents; seizure response; and consequences of the seizure behavior. In terms of the learning paradigm, the critical issue is the function of the seizure in the life of the child.
