ABSTRACT

In 1938, Douglas “Wrong Way” Corrigan set a course to fly from New York to California, but ended up landing in Ireland-because he seemingly misread his compass. Knowing your destination and reading your compass correctly are your best approaches to the future. The world of security is changing faster then we sometimes realize or wish to acknowledge. In addition to the age-old problems of violence and crime, security executives now contend with international terrorism, environmental damage, energy disruptions, and potential pandemics. To these protracted and almost universal problems one can add the prospect of unexpected and often violent natural events like earthquakes, floods, or hurricanes.
