ABSTRACT

There is a high level of interest in using nanoscale reinforcing llers, such as nanolayers, nanoparticles, and recently carbon nanotubes (CNT), for producing polymeric nanocomposite materials with exceptional properties.1,2 The immense internal interfacial area and the nanoscopic dimensions between the particles lead to the formation of a hybrid structure, which fundamentally differentiates polymer nanocomposites from traditionally lled plastics. A  unique feature of polymer nanocomposites is that the improved performance is reached at low ller content, thus resulting in lightweight materials.
