ABSTRACT

As part of the excavation works to be carried out in connection with proposed under ground stations for Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), blasting of hard rock was carried out at different locations in the heart of Bangalore city. Controlled blasting operations were carried out keeping the adverse impacts like flyrock, ground vibration and air overpressure within the stipulated limits. Excavation was carried out for the East-West corridor at Cricket stadium, Vidhana Soudha, Central College station (Sir M Visveswaraya Station) and City Railway Station (Fig. 1).
