ABSTRACT
The key event in the initiation of an immune response by the adoptive
immune system is the recognition of antigen by T-cells. However, T-cells are not able to react to soluble or dispersed antigen, instead, antigen must
be engulfed, processed, and presented by specialized cells, the so-called
antigen-presenting cells (APCs).
