ABSTRACT

Although sarcoidosis usually affects the respiratory tract, this granuloma-

tous disease can manifest itself in many other sites including those of the

genitourinary, breast, and hematologic organs. A recent review suggests

that although 40% of patients present with intrathoracic manifestations, careful evaluation of other body sites at initial evaluation and during clinical

follow-up will usually reveal other organ involvement as well (1). Little data

is available regarding the true prevalence of sarcoidosis in the genitourinary,

breast, or hematologic organs. This chapter is devoted to better exploration

of the prevalence, clinical presentation, and treatment of these organs that

are less commonly involved with the epithelioid granulomatous process of

sarcoidosis.
