ABSTRACT
Natural soil growth is quite slow. Human-caused soil loss is happening more than a hundred times faster than natural soil growth. Climate change is accelerating soil loss due to drought, ”ooding, and other extreme weather events. Since most people eat food that is grown in soil, hunger is becoming a major factor in our world. Nearly one-seventh of the world’s population is hungry or starving.
