ABSTRACT

Aside from the notable embryologic abnormalities of the bladder, which include bladder exstrophy and cloacal anomalies, anomalies of the bladder in children are relatively rare. In this chapter, a brief review of the embryology and function of the bladder is presented followed by a review of bladder trauma, bladder diverticula, urachal anomalies, and other bladder anomalies, including bladder agenesis and hypoplasia, bladder duplication and septation, megacystis, as well as tumors and inflammatory conditions of the bladder seen in children.
