ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION Heart failure (HF) remains the only common cardiovascular syndrome increasing in prevalence and incidence (1). Despite signifi cant advances in pharmacologic and device therapies, morbidity, and mortality for those affl icted with HF remains high (2). Following a brief discussion of epidemiology and pathophysiology, this chapter focuses on the clinical syndrome of HF with particular emphasis on clinical presentation and diagnosis.
