ABSTRACT

Helsinki is the capital of Finland. e number of inhabitants is 595,500. Finland is a Member State of the European Union (EU), which means that the police take account on the common European security and policing strategies and justice and home aairs policies. e National Police Board under the Ministry of the Interior, and the Police Commissioner, form the supreme command of the Finnish police organization. e police in Finland is a state authority. Currently, there are 24 local police departments. e recent organizational reform took 2 years (2009-2010); the Police Board was established, and the number of local police departments was reduced from 90 to 24.
