ABSTRACT
Turkey is a democratic, secular, unitary, constitutional republic, with an ancient cultural heritage. It is situated in between two continents (Asia and Europe) and has an area of 783,562 km2. Turkey also has a total coastline of 8333 km, which covers the borders of the Black Sea, the Aegean, the Marmara Sea, and the Mediterranean. It is surrounded by Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, and Syria.
