ABSTRACT
Shielding is an important and challenging aspect of radiotherapy management. The purpose of shielding radiotherapy machines is to reduce the dose equivalent to a point outside the treatment room to an acceptably low level. Failure to design shielding adequately can result in overexposures to personnel or expensive barrier retrofitting.
