ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights the advances made in metal-directed selfassembly by authors’ group during the last five years. The first section of the chapter describes the self-assembly strategy and the subsequent obtention of the corresponding PdII and PtII metallocycles. Next, insertion of aromatic guests into the metallocyclic hosts, forming 1:1 and 1:2 (host:guest) inclusion complexes, is examined. Finally, the self-assembly of interlocked structures such as [2] and [3]catenanes and a Solomon knot is discussed.
