ABSTRACT
Paramedics are often the first trained personnel to care for the victims of traumatic injuries. The training, educational level, experience, and work status of these providers varies greatly from country to country, as well as locality to locality. It is the intent of this brief introduction to provide the reader with an overview of the roles that these initial responders have in the spectrum of care provided to trauma patients.
