ABSTRACT

I. EPIDEMIOLOGY OF MULTIPLE TRAUMA According to the Global Burden of Disease Study (GBDS) [1] published by the Harvard School of Public Health in 1990, injuries were responsible for 5.1 million deaths worldwide, accounting for 10.1% of all deaths. The number of deaths is expected to increase further over the next 20 years. Vehicular injury is now by far the most important cause of injury-related death.
