ABSTRACT

With improvements in sanitation, medical technology, and public health awareness, life expectancy has risen significantly over years. As of 2011, the resident population of Singapore was 5.18 million. By 2030, elderly people aged 65 and older are expected to make up 19% of the population. This indirectly signifies the importance of health care delivery and medical care to its nations.In 2004, Singapore’s total market size for medical devices was estimated to be US$ 535 million (Fig. 35.1) The market for medical devices is in the growing trend as a result of Singapore’s position as the regional medical and research hub.
