ABSTRACT

Endoluminal placement of stent grafts to treat abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) shows promising initial results (18,19,36,38,39,42–44). However, the long-term effectiveness of stent grafts is not well known. Endoleaks, which do not occur after traditional aneurysm repair, are detected in approximately 24% of patients undergoing endovascular treatment of AAAs (3–12,15–17,31,32,41). Endoleaks can be difficult to detect and treat, and their management provides new challenges for physicians treating AAAs using an endovascular approach.
