ABSTRACT

Although the ultimate goal of endovascular aneurysm repair (EAR) is to prevent death from rupture, the primary objective of placing an endograft in an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is to exclude the sac from the circulation. Soon after the introduction of this new technique, a situation was recognized in which the exclusion was incomplete. Irrespective of the lack of understanding of the short- and long-term consequences of this condition, it seemed reasonable to consider it an undesirable outcome.
