ABSTRACT
Zoonoses or zoonotic illnesses are infections that are transmitted between
vertebrate animals and humans. This large group includes infections that man acquires from lower animals and also those that travel from man to
lower animals. The zoonotic illnesses have an immense impact on the econ-
omy because the disorders not only cause significant morbidity and mor-
tality in humans, but they have an infinite capacity to devastate the
livestock industry. Most of the zoonotic illnesses are multisystem, but lung
involvement is important and it may dictate the course and prognosis of
most of these illnesses.
