ABSTRACT
During our years in medical school, we were trained in the art of observation
and the importance of accurate and thorough history taking. Indeed, these remain the building blocks on which the differential diagnosis is based and,
such as, they bear repeating (1). The training is, perhaps, required more in
tropical medicine than any other medical specialty. Clinical acumen is
acutely and urgently needed when modern laboratory and radiological facil-
ities are neither affordable nor available.
