ABSTRACT

During our years in medical school, we were trained in the art of observation

and the importance of accurate and thorough history taking. Indeed, these remain the building blocks on which the differential diagnosis is based and,

such as, they bear repeating (1). The training is, perhaps, required more in

tropical medicine than any other medical specialty. Clinical acumen is

acutely and urgently needed when modern laboratory and radiological facil-

ities are neither affordable nor available.
