ABSTRACT
Since their introduction in 1945, polymeric catheters have gained widespread acceptance in all fields of medicine. Currently, they are used for various therapeutic and diagnostic purposes such as infusion therapy, administration of blood products, or hemodynamic monitoring of ICU patients. Thus, they represent major progress in modern medicine.
