ABSTRACT
More than 21,000 solid organ transplants were performed in the United States in 1999 (1). The number of living organ transplant recipients has reached a level where subspecialists and generalists are involved in the medical management of these patients. In particular, it has become essential for pulmonologists to have a detailed understanding of pulmonary problems associated with organ transplantation.
