ABSTRACT

Inflammation of the pleural space has been studied by means of the intrapleural injection of several different inflammation-producing agents. Although carrageenan is the agent investigated most extensively, other agents investigated include zymosan (1, 2), endotoxin or lipopolysaccharide (LPS) (3, 4), antigenantibody reactions (5), monosodium urate (6), and miconazole (7).
